Challenge 3C: Building Blooms (4th and 5th Grade)

YOUR CHALLENGE:

It’s time to become an Eco-Designer! Imagine a special flower – not just any flower that you see in your backyard, but one uniquely made to make your community better. Your challenge is to design a brand-new flower that helps bring nature right into our busy city spaces. Choose a trait of real flowers, like attracting bees and butterflies, cleaning the air, or making yummy fruits, and take it to the extreme.

Invent a flowering plant from your imagination and create a 3D model of what it looks like using materials of your choice. Mark the plant’s basic parts on the model including its stem, roots, leaves, and flowers. Let your creativity blossom and give your flower a special name that reflects its unique characteristics. Also, in 50-100 words, describe and identify what traits makes your plant beneficial to your community.
