Tuesday through Thursday, June 14, 15, and 16, 2022 | 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM
In this 3-day workshop, you will learn how to create a successful and powerful composition. We focus on how to create a strong focal point while incorporating the Principles and Elements of Design1.
Each day students will create a painting on a quarter sheet of paper (11×15) from provided reference photos or they may use their own.
Day 1: Paint Along
All students have the same reference photo. They begin by drawing the painting outline on a quarter sheet of watercolor paper.
The instructor will demonstrate, showing how to approach the different stages of the painting, stopping after each section so the students can paint what was just demonstrated.
Day 2 and 3: Your turn
Students will paint from reference photos, either by bringing their own photos*, or by selecting ones provided by the instructor. For each painting, students will plan the colors they will use and create a value sketch of the painting with pencil in their sketch book.
*Materials are not included. A list of supplies will be sent to you after registration.
*If choosing your own reference image, make sure there is a range of values, light, mid, and dark.
