Educator Challenge: City in a Garden

YOUR CHALLENGE:

The beauty of Miami is recognized by its tropical beaches and vibrant culture. Many may not think of the plants that are vital to the resiliency and longevity of South Florida. By envisioning our city within a garden, our goal is to restore our connection to nature.

Redesign the look of Miami in a graphic for a T-shirt that celebrates the fusion of Miami’s urban landscape with a garden. Incorporate native plants into iconic Miami landmarks, enticing visitors to embrace the concept of Miami as a captivating city within a garden. The winning design will be put on t-shirts given out to your fellow educators at the end of the year.

Then, using your shirt design as context, write a letter to someone who has never been to Miami to communicate why they should visit. Highlight Fairchild’s vision for the future of Miami. The goal of this letter is to draw attention and tourism to Miami as a result of this City in a Garden initiative. Download PDF for this info on one page – COMING SOON!

✓  Submission Requirements:
Original hand-drawn or digital graphic. Your image should be appropriate to fit on a T-shirt and clearly show your vision of Miami as a city in a garden. Graphic design software can be used but please do not use AI generation.
