HOME AND GARDEN WEEKEND

The Spring Event at Fairchild

The Spring Event at Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden is a home and garden weekend centered on plants and how to bring them home. Fairchild’s Spring Plant Sale has long been recognized as one of the most anticipated plant sales in Miami, and this expanded experience, The Spring Event, brings together rare tropical plants, home and garden inspiration, and expert guidance from Fairchild’s horticulture staff.

This is where plants, home décor, and garden living come together. Guests can shop Fairchild-grown species, rare and specialty plants, and a curated selection from trusted local growers, alongside containers, garden merchandise, and books that make it easy to plant, care for, and live with everything you bring home.

The Spring Event also showcases our programs, including The Million Orchid Project®, The Million Butterflies Project, The Native Plant Network, and The Million Balconies Project. It’s a weekend that reflects the full breadth of Fairchild’s work and the scientists, botanists, educators, and partners who, for nearly a century, have worked to study, protect, and share the plants of the tropics, and the conservation efforts that bring more plants into more homes across South Florida. Our experts are on hand throughout the event to share their knowledge and help you succeed with plants at home.

At the heart of the weekend is Fairchild’s flagship City in a Garden initiative, a simple, powerful idea: that Miami itself can be a garden. It’s our ongoing commitment to distribute plants across South Florida and help reforest Miami, one home, balcony, and backyard at a time. Every plant that leaves The Spring Event becomes part of that larger vision: a greener, more resilient, more beautiful South Florida.

What You’ll Find at The Spring Event

A curated selection of rare and tropical plants, with expert guidance to help you choose and care for them, plus everything you need to bring them home well.

Whether you’re planting a large backyard, styling a shaded patio, or making the most of a small balcony, The Spring Event is designed to meet you where you live. Plants are shown in full settings, paired with containers, grouped thoughtfully, and placed to spark ideas for your own garden, terrace, or home. It’s inspiration you can see, touch, and take with you.

Alongside the plants, you’ll find containers in a range of sizes and styles, garden merchandise, how-to books, and the practical tools that make planting and care easier from day one. It’s a complete home and garden experience.

About The Spring Event

The Spring Event is borne from more than four decades of the Spring Plant Sale, one of the most distinctive plant events in Miami, featuring rare tropical plants, orchids, and specialty species grown by Fairchild and trusted South Florida growers.

We’ve expanded to The Spring Event to create a curated experience that goes beyond a traditional plant sale, offering a thoughtful selection of plants not typically found elsewhere, along with the containers, how-to books, and expert guidance to help you choose, care for, and live with what you bring home.

Every plant that leaves The Spring Event is part of Fairchild’s broader City in a Garden vision: introducing and distributing plants across South Florida and helping reforest Miami, one home at a time.
