YOUR CHALLENGE:
When you think of South Florida, you probably think of our warm weather and beautiful beaches. But did you know that plants also play an important role in making our cities a better and more beautiful place to live? Take a moment to think of any part of our city that does not have many plants or trees. Now, think of what this place would look like if it were a garden that everyone in the whole world would want to visit. Would there be lots of trees and flowers everywhere? Would there be plants growing in places you don’t expect, like up the sides of buildings or on the roof?
Using paper, colored pencils, markers and your imagination, draw your Iconic Garden on a poster. Your poster should be creative, colorful, and make everyone want to visit South Florida! Download PDF

Entry must include student(s) first name, last initial, grade and school name on bottom right corner. Submissions should include a 2 – 3 sentence description of what is depicted in the Iconic Garden. |

Drawings must be original, hand-rendered artwork by students in colored pencil, crayon, pens, markers only; no computer-generated designs. |

Poster must be no larger than 11″ x 17″ |

On-time entry submission. Late entries will be accepted with a reduction in points. |

In addition to submitting top 2 entries from your school for points, please send us all your students’ work for this Challenge. Those entries submitted for points must be clearly labeled on the physical entry AND on the entry form. Physically submit all classroom entries, delivered in person, or mailed to Fairchild Challenge via certified mail to 10901 Old Cutler Road, Goral Gables, Florida 33156, ATTN: Education Department. Hand deliver entries M-F, 8a-5p at the South/Employee entrance, or via drop box at the Visitor Center. Call the Challenge team at 305-663-8081. |
