Cocoplum

Cocoplum is an attractive shrub with a wide geographic distribution. It grows naturally here in South Florida and throughout the Caribbean, the Bahamas, Central and South America, and tropical West Africa. It is widely planted as an ornamental shrub or hedge. Its purple, plumlike fruit is edible and can be used to make fruit preserves and jams. Cocoplum has become invasive in some parts of the tropics, forming thick masses that overrun natural vegetation.

Cocoplum es un arbusto atractivo con una amplia distribución geográfica. Crece naturalmente aquí en el sur de la Florida y a través del Caribe, las Bahamas, Centro y Sudamérica, y África occidental tropical. Se planta ampliamente como arbusto ornamental o de cobertura. Su fruta púrpura, como la ciruela, es comestible y puede ser utilizada para hacer confituras y mermeladas de frutas.
