Range: South Florida, Bahamas, Greater Antilles and Yucatan
 
This endangered, native plant can be found in isolated hardwood hammock habitats of the Florida Keys and southern Everglades. It is a shrub or small tree that fits well into public and residential landscapes. It has small, star-shaped flowers and unusual, translucent fruits. Easy to grow and resilient, it is an excellent garden plant for South Florida.
