Range: Florida & Caribbean, Mexico to Honduras

Black ironwood is an attractive, native tree that is found in our local hardwood hammock habitats. It grows slowly and remains small for many years, making it a good fit for small residential landscapes. As its name suggests it has very dense, hard wood that sinks in water. Its fruit attracts birds and other wildlife.
