This amazing tree is known for its heavy, round, inedible fruit that is the size and shape of a cannonball. Its unusual, fragrant flowers are borne on twisting, tentacle-like branches that emerge from the trunk. The flowers have pollen-bearing structures reminiscent of sea anemones that attract bees. The tree is deciduous, dropping its leaves multiple times throughout the year. The cannonball tree has become a favorite ornamental tree for South Florida landscapes.

Este árbol asombroso es conocido por su fruta pesada, redonda, incomible que tiene el tamaño y la forma de una bola de cañón. Sus flores inusuales y fragantes se soportan los retorciendo ramas como tentáculos que emergen del tronco. Las flores tienen estructuras con polen que recuerdan a las anémonas del mar que atraen a las abejas. El árbol es deciduo, dejando caer sus hojas varias veces a lo largo del año.
