Satinleaf

Chrysophyllum oliviforme

Range: South Florida, Caribbean & Yucatan

Satinleaf is one of our most beautiful native trees. Its two-toned leaves are distinctive, deep glossy green on the upper surface and fuzzy copper below, creating a shimmering effect in the wind. Satinleaf grows naturally in our local hardwood hammock habitats and is widely planted as a hurricane resistant street tree and specimen tree. Its fruit is edible, with a sweet flavor similar to dates. Birds and other wildlife are attracted to satin leaf trees for shelter and food.
