Range: India to East Asia
Crape myrtle is a favorite flowering tree for tropical to warm temperate regions, popular in urban plantings. It flowers throughout the year, but most enthusiastically in the summertime, when it is covered with showy blooms. Flowers may be white, pink, red, magenta, or purple. The small to medium-sized trees are attractive even when not in flower, with peeling bark in contrasting shades of gray and brown.
