Allspice

Pimenta dioica

Range: Caribbean, Central and South America

All parts of this tree have a wonderfully spicy fragrance, and the unripe fruits are ground to make allspice. Also called Jamaican Pepper, the allspice tree grows naturally throughout the Caribbean region and is one of the most important flavors in our regional cuisine. Here in South Florida, it is a popular landscape tree.

Our Garden Shop will be temporarily closed on Friday, October 31 as we conduct our annual inventory. All guests will still be welcomed at the Garden, and may check in at the table outside of the Shop. Drinks and coffee will be available for purchase at the Garden Bistro.

We appreciate your understanding and look forward to welcoming you back into the Shop once inventory is complete!
