Philodendron ‘Congo Rojo’

Range: South America

There are nearly 500 species of Philodendron, all native to the American tropics. They tend to be adaptable to a wide range of conditions, living on the forest floor, climbing up trees, or living entirely in the tree canopy. This adaptability makes Philodendrons excellent garden subjects and houseplants. They are incredibly diverse, with a wide range of attractive growth forms, interesting leaf shapes, and unusual color patterns. ‘Congo Rojo’ is often grown as a houseplant, but here in South Florida it is widely grown outdoors, lending a splash of deep red to the landscape.
