Range: Florida and Bahamas to South America

 

Also called the “Florida dancing lady orchid,” This is one of the native species Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden is propagating and planting throughout South Florida as part of the Million Orchid Project. It grows best in the soil, but can also grow on tree branches with adequate moisture. It bears large masses of dancing yellow flowers in springtime.
