Jaboticaba

Plinia cauliflora

Range: Brazil

This Brazilian fruit tree is very unusual in the way its flowers and fruits form directly on its trunk and branches. The purple-black, grape-like fruits have a short shelf life and don’t ship well, so they are best enjoyed directly from the tree or from markets near where they are grown. Although they are not very common in local gardens, Jaboticabas grow well here.
