Dypsis cabadae

Range: Comoros Islands

This is a great ornamental palm with magnificent bamboo-like stems and graceful arching leaves. There are many species of Dypsis palms, nearly all found in Madagascar. Dypsis cabadae has a more exotic origin in the remote Comoros Islands between the northern tip of Madagascar and mainland Africa. It was cultivated in Cuba before its introduction into Miami in the 1950s. Today, Dypsis cabadae is widely grown in our region and throughout the tropics.
