Caranday palm

Copernicia alba

Range: South America

Named after the astronomer Nicolaus Copernicus, Copernicia palms have stiff, fan-shaped leaves that appear to be reaching for the heavens. Most Copernicia palms are native to Cuba but this species is found across a wide range of South America. Copernicia palms are tough and easy to grow in South Florida.
