Range: South America

This species is native to South America, found in Brazil, Bolivia, and surrounding regions. Adapted to warm, dry environments and features thick, “mule-ear” leaves that help conserve water. This species produces long, arching inflorescences packed with numerous small to medium-sized flowers that are typically yellow with dark brown or reddish spots and blotches. The flowers have a broad showy lip and are sometimes fragrant. Blooming can occur at various times of the year depending on growing conditions.
