10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

During this workshop, local artist, Andrea Clement, will teach you how to take your photographs to a new creative level with the ancient art of encaustics. Encaustics is a mixed media technique that involves using a heated beeswax medium which is painted onto your photograph and then other materials such as pastels and paints are incorporated upon and within the wax. This two day workshop is open to novice and experienced artists, as well as those who just want to try something different with their photos. Participants will have a hands on introduction to the techniques of photo encaustic such as guidance towards the types of images that work best for encaustic, creating and building up smooth translucent layers of wax, fusing, creating texture, application of paints, oil pastels, and pigments. Participants will create 2 encaustic pieces made from their own photographs.

Ages 15 and up.
