Cooking Class: Veggie Lunch with Jo Ann of Joanna's Marketplace

For lunchtime cooking, what we need are recipes which require minimal effort and maximum reward. Join Jo Ann Lederman, cofounder of Joanna’s Marketplace, for a class in masterful cooking strategy. Students will learn an easily replicable menu that is adaptable to just about any palate, preference, or dietary restriction,

We begin with veggie pancakes of zucchini, spinach and broccoli; three different vegetables with three different preparation requirements and approaches. Then, Jo Ann shows you the basics of achieving a perfectly balanced bruschetta. Finally, a sweet and tangy vegetable salad with a powerful and addictive garlic dressing.

Instructor Bio: Jo Ann Lederman and her late husband Alan are the founders of Joanna’s Marketplace, a gourmet market located right in the heart of South Miami. Known for its award-winning artisanal bakery, extensive lunch and daily hot menus, Joanna’s Marketplace offers something for everyone, from gourmet sandwiches and catering to high quality pantry items.

Both founders have rich culinary histories; Jo Ann’s great grandfather emigrated from Lithuania in the 1870’s and opened Susman Volk Deli, the first delicatessen in Greenwich Village on Deanery Street. Her dad and grandfather owned more than 14 Manhattan restaurants. Alan’s family owned Hershey Farms in New York for more than 80 years.
