Event Details

Thursdays, December 8 and 15, 2022 | 10:30 AM to 1:30 PM

Award-winning Miami artist, Dan Bondroff, teaches the basics of composition and value, and guides practice in quick drawings and paintings in sketchbooks. Students will learn to set compositions quickly and will complete small works in under 30 minutes. Instructor will provide digital images source photos.

– Sketchbook with paper thick enough for a light wash of watercolor. I use Strathmore 500 Series mixed media sketchbook 5.5”x8.5”. This is a small size, you are welcome to work larger if you wish
– Dry Watercolor Set. I use Koi by Sakura set of 24 colors. It’s compact, not too expensive, and the colors are bright for a set in this price range. You can get this set with fewer colors if you wish.
– 2-3 small to medium sized watercolor brushes. I usually work with a medium sized filbert (size 6 or 8) and a small round brush (size 2 or smaller). Different brands sometimes use different sizes for the same number. Try to use brushes that will cover your sketching surface somewhat quickly, so if you get a larger sketchbook, get some larger sized brushes.
– Number 2 pencil
– Eraser (white plastic works best)
– Fine Black Sharpie
– Ultrafine Black Sharpie
– Print out images sent by instructor by email. (You can use a phone or tablet instead, but I highly recommend printing them out on paper)

Instructor Bio: Dan Bondroff has a B.S. in Art/Visual Communication from Towson University. Working with pastels, he enjoys capturing those often overlooked and fleeting moments that occur in the natural world. He also looks forward to guiding his students as they make their own discoveries.
