Spatterdock

Nuphar advena

Range: Eastern North America

Nuphar is an incredibly adaptable waterlily that thrives from the subtropics to above the Arctic Circle. This species is native to eastern North America, where it is found in ponds and slow-moving waterways. The attractive buttercup-yellow flowers are held above the water. Its leaves channel air to underwater parts of the plant, like a snorkel, helping the plant grow more efficiently.
